Christians protest actions that play down Christmas' religious nature
personally i think its a little disrespectful to say "Merry Christmas" on the phone for like a store because what if you get a jewish person on the phone, they don't celebrate christmas. so in my opinion its disrespectful.
http://dogontherunmusic.blogspot.com/hello CD listeners, we have come to the point on this album where those listening on cassette or records will have to stand up or sit down and turn over record or tape. In fairness to those listeners we will now take a few seconds before we begin side two... Thank you... Here's side two - tom petty, 1989

Someone would have to be pretty thin skinned to be offended by a receptionist's "Merry Christmas" at a department store.
Please go back and reread Normandi's post. (The second one back...between the Santa suit dancer and the rubber bunnies.) The one about tolerance and diversity, and how it's all good.
I think about my own life. We visited my husband's older sister in NJ years ago. Up until then, I hadn't known that she had married a Jew. They were in the middle of Sedar, celebrating Passover. They said they were almost finished...or we could join them and partake. We joined in and learned a bit about this rich culture. I don't think I'll forget it. And afterall, Jesus was a Jew.
We are all part of the family of God (or the source of all life, or Mother Earth, or the great black hole, or whatever your belief system is or isn't). I wish more would remember that. No, we don't have to all agree. We just have to be respectful. Pretend its not all just about yourself and your feelings for a minute. Look deeper.
And as for the expelled Santa dancer, maybe the PTA members need to play with the funny plastic rabbits and chill out. Someone is taking themselves too seriously.

FIRST ADMENDMENT - Establishment Clause
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

^ This clearly says ppl are free to practice any religion they want without government approval / interference.
But the government cannot favor, or establish any religion. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND??

Boy in a Santa suit asked to quit dance
HAMPTON - A parent of a Hampton Academy Junior High School student says the principal of the school told his son to leave the school’s holiday dance on Friday night because the boy was dressed in a Santa Claus costume, which was politically incorrect.
Michael Lafond said his son, Bryan, went to the dance dressed as Santa because it was a holiday party.
Had to backtrack to see what Normandi had posted (thank god it wasn't another bunny funny

, hehehe). Ok, also thankful that I am not manager til after the 'season'. Because what WOULD I say to my gay bartender when he wears his Santa hat? No cross-dressing allowed, dude?

wow, people are offended by Santa Claus! that just blows my mind!! If somebody said "Happy Kwanzaa" to me, I wouldn't get offended! I'd say Merry Christmas back! lol So, "Happy" and "Merry" sounds like a good conversation to me...
