Is the problem registering with dime or downloading torrents in general? If it is registering with dime, usually these shows get uploaded to other torrent sites such as traders den when they've run their course at dime. If you can't download in general, you can learn or find someone to b&p with you.

While singing to TPATH, "Quiet Mommy, I'm trying to listen to Thomas." Brett, age 5.
After listening to a Mudcrutch show I asked Brett what she thought about the new Mudcrutch music. Her response: "It's great. I didn't know it would be so thrilling." Brett, age 6.
"All right, now we're at the part of the show that we just go rip roarin crazy. Are you ready to go rip roarin crazy with me?" Tom Petty 6/28/03 Summerfest

Is anyone else having a hard time downloading this? I have a hunch it's just me and perhaps there is something wrong with my computer, but just thought I'd check...

I had no trouble downloading it last night. Thanks JohnMill for highlighting this, and a big thanks to whomever recorded it (this is a strait-to-digital recording, btw) and posted it. To me, TPATH recordings are worth more than their weight in gold, which of course is impossible to measure since the recording itself doesn't weigh anything. But they are priceless, immensely valuable to TPATH fans (and even non-fans if they eventually get to hear them) so every one of these is highly appreciated. I haven't actually heard this one yet, but the samples sound decent, so I'm looking forward to uncompressing it and burning it to CD (and much more importantly, listening to it!).

"not piped"? Are you implying that they've been playing with a pre-recorded vocal track in the past? If so, I would disagree. Scott Thurston has been taking the highest vocal bits for some time now, but I've never suspected a pre-recorded vocal track on anything. Either that or they drop the song into a slightly lower key to accomodate Tom's current range.

However, it's nice to hear Refugee back in it's original key! That was a surprise. They've been playing that dropped down 2 half-steps the last couple of tours. In fact, almost everything is in the original key. I think only American Girl and The Waiting are dropped a half-step.

So in Don't Come Around Here No More the strings and all the vocals are happening live somehow?

^^Mono was referring to the delay/echo TP has been using in recent years on his vocals for Free Fallin'. He actually first used it when FMF came out; it can be clearly heard on his SNL performance of 89. He dropped it after that until the 2003 tour if I remember correctly. Listen to the Gainesville show from 06 as well and you can hear it too....

^^Sorry Firefly, forgot to answer your post. Those strings and vocals are actually synth modes on one of Benmont's keyboards. He just hits the keys according to the melody and wala! Smile Good meeting you the other night BTW Smile

I don't understand what you're talking about. What do you mean by "delay/echo"? Do you mean a prerecorded backing vocal of Tom's own voice like on a studio recording to complement his live singing?

There was definitely a discussion around last tour somewhere, that everyone made some really good points.
If they have to tune down all these songs (american girl, the waiting, refugee, etc) down a half step, how can he still sing free fallin if he cant sing the other ones as well?
And you can so tell. Tom did NOT sing the chorus in free fallin, its the same thing from 2002-2006, the same way the words are sung, same echo, exact same, if u listen to every live version, its too similar.
It's prerecorded.
Now let me go look for that thread
