So I'm watching the Mork & Mindy marathon on Sci-Fi and there's a TPATH record on the wall next to the entrance of the record store. Its just a black album with the TPATH logo on it, nothing else. Is this a poster, or some sort of limited release vinyl?

An interesting story: I met a girl who was smart, funny, intelligent, agreeable, and as an added bonus... Looked simply stunning! One day as we were looking through my CD collection, I asked "Have you got a favourite Tom Petty song?" She replied "Who's Tom Petty?"

We haven't spoken since.

Cool! (leaves to do some quick research) You're referring to the very first episode of the show, which aired in September 1978 - some 4 months after the release of "You're Gonna Get It".

It looks to me like an LP cover on the wall - not the outside cover, but maybe one of those thick inserts inside that actually hold the vinyl. I don't have those LP's anymore, but somebody with the original vinyl could tell us.

I wouldn't guess that it was a special release, they only had the 2 albums, and maybe 5 singles released by that time. Could be one of those 12-inch singles that were popular around that time. Or it could also just be a display "flat", although it appears to be surrounded by other records.

Could this be the first ever product placement of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in a TV show? Probably. The band was still playing small clubs at this time, and were more than a year away from their first appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Robin Williams was a riot!

Awesome! Thanks for the info... From what I can tell, it stays up there for quite a few of the episodes, not sure about the years, though.

There was one episode where you can clearly see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers sitting amongst the rest of the records on that table in the store.

^Quite possible.

It's certainly more likely than my theory that Robin Williams is Bono from U2. I know it's a long shot, but I can't seem to let it go.

Anyone ever see them together?

Too bad the Love Boat is no longer in production.

OK Laz, I'm with you on the "Robin Williams is Bono" thing - although some say Robin Williams is Robert DeNiro. Could he be all 3?

But you lost me on the "Love Boat" thing. That show deserved to die. Big Grin

Okay. I have to share.

One day, while living in Hollyweird (two years weird ass years I'll never forget), a friend and I went to the Paramount Lot because we got payed an outrageous amount of money to dress up and sit in the front row for two shitty hours of THE LEEZA GIBBONS SHOW). I know.
Anyways.
During a much needed break, we talked up a guy who looked like he had seen better days. Turns out he had been an employee with Paramount for 40+ years.
He looks at us and says, "Okay fellas. You're probably sitting there, bored off your ass in that soundstage while Leeza is doing her thing, right? Well, perhaps this will make you laugh: MORK AND MINDY filmed on this very stage once upon a time. And, when it did, I was one of the camera men for the show. Why do I bring this up? I bring it up because Robin Williams and I did coke every chance we got before the camera rolled. He was coked up on just about every episode that I was a part of. AND I WAS THERE A LOT! Think about THAT and laugh while you're sitting there bored when you go in for the final hour of taping."
I sure as shit did. That guy was a lifer for Paramount.
Not sure what the thread is even discussing in detail, but I saw MORK AND MINDY and had to share that nugget.

So that happened!

I happen to own the vinyl of "you're Gonna Get It" and I can tell you that the front cover has a blue tinted pic of the guys on a black background and the back is completly black with the logo in the center. I haven't seen the episode you are taking about in YEARS, so I'm not sure if it is what you are refering to, but the back of the album is black with a full color logo on it and the inside that holds the record is just paper.

Someone sent me a PM saying that that was the case. Thanks for all the responses, guys!

It was a great marathon... Being the "kid" that I am, I had never had much of a chance to see Mork, but I had heard plenty about it from my parents. I've been a huge Robin Williams fan my whole life, so I enjoyed just sitting with my mom and dad watching the show all day. Big Grin
