Has anyone heard of this super low budget horror-chiller PARANORMAL ACTIVITY? It was made for $15,000 a few years ago and played at a few film fests, building a rep as "the scariest movie ever made."

Last night, the movie was shown in a few midnight screenings around the country. I went and watched it, and it's quite a trip into the darkness. Not the scariest movie I've ever seen (Wizard of Oz), but very effective in a less-is-more, creep in your pants right until the climax way. Fun to watch it with an audience, some people were just freaking out of their skulls.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY opens in a handful of theaters across the country today. Midnight screenings are recommended by this reviewer.

I have panic attacks during scary movies so I don't think this is for me. However, I did just see the trailer and it made the hair on my legs stand up. Way scary looking.

Note-to-self - shave the legs

It is a ton of fun if you see it at a packed midnight screening...chilling, thrilling, and creepy

Geez missed it last night in Boulder. Halloween is coming soon. I miss all those scary movies they used to show on the TV Halloween night.

The audience in the trailer is pretty funny to watch.

Looks like a good one for fright night.

If you get a chance to see it in a theater, that's the way to go...no pause button is much more effective for this kind of film

If there's blood in it, count me out. I can't stand that!

It is entirely bloodless. For the most part. All of the horror is off camera, in your mind

Athena told me that when JAWS came out she watched it a zillion times in the theater and would laugh as everyone would scream and fling popcorn when the head pops out of the sunken boat, startling the audience.

Crazy in love with Rock and Roll.

I usually watch the audience in a live production but I can't say I've ever watched one in a movie.

Leave it to Athena to find the real entertainment.

This film did get mention on the TV news. They said it was doing pretty well.

I saw this one on TV the other night and must admit I never saw it before. I enjoyed it although I should have been sleeping.

Ok, so even though I have panic attacks during scary movies, I allowed myself to be peered pressured into going to this movie tonight. I didn't think I even had peer pressure at my age.

Anyhow, it's filmed like Blair Witch, with the hand-held "it actually happened" kind of filming. I thought Blair Witch was scarier throughout while this movie was really not that scary until the very end. The very end is freaking scary.

The theater was full of pre-teens. What they were doing in rated r movie, I don't know. But they really got into it, i think more to act out than that they were actually scared.

At the very end, one girl ran out of the theater. She looked like she was maybe 12 and looked scared to death.

Over all, I've seen scarier. This movie definitely has the hype though.

Something about a simple pseudo-goalie mask when seen outside the crease still makes this classic scare just as real today compared to when first spooked.

Nothing like the original

Stay out of Haddonfield. Happy Halloween!
