The other day my jaw dropped when I read that there was a debate scheduled for February 2010 at Radio City Music Hall between President Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
The website promoting this event described it this way: The 42nd president of the United States, Bill Clinton, and the 43rd president of the United States, George W. Bush, will debate topics ranging from the economy, to foreign policy, to the current administration. The series will be formatted to allow for President Clinton and President Bush to each present their thoughts on a wide range of important current events and national issues through a moderated question and answer period during which the moderator can elicit information and insights into particularly pertinent topics of the day.
Even though I could not believe it was possible, I was really looking forward to this debate. Alas, it is not to be. The day after the event was announced, with ticket prices ranging from $60 to $1250, it was cancelled.
Now why do you think that is?

What a shame! I would have loved to have seen this.
"The event, slated for Feb. 25 at Radio City Music Hall, apparently was supposed to be a panel discussion, much like the forum the two presidents participated in this past May in Toronto.
We agreed with the decision to cancel due to inaccurate and unauthorized hype by the promoter," he said. "The problem for both sides was with billing this as a 'debate.' They have a strong friendship and enjoy exchanging their views, which obviously differ at times. But neither agreed nor has interest in participating in a debate."
I read a couple articles about this. Both Clinton and Bush were pissed at the people who put it together for how they were marketing it. Was making it out to be a prize fight sorta thing. They both bailed and said would be hoping to schedule something in the near future...
