Gosh Tammy..you are having a rough time at the moment..so very sorry to hear that..Know what you mean about your parents, I miss my mum dreadfully when the shit hits the fan and you just want a sensible calm voice in your ear to make it better again. But you do have the ear and hearts and minds of this board Tammy..we will all be thinking of you..although times are crap at the moment for you things do turn around eventually..you just have to hang in there until things change..easy to say, hard to do I know..You have your lovely children..you are fit and well..those are the things that are so important in the end. I am sure no one minds at all you spilling your rage out there, it is a good way to offload the madness of life sometimes. All the best.

Tammy; sounds like you are being pushed to the edge right now
~~~~~
It must be hard to be literally surrounded by the dogs ( an don' feel bad about calling he police if the neighbors won't co-operate, you have a right to defend yourself -incluiding your dog)
I don't have any words of wisdom, just a " hang in there.
It will get better "/ which of course it will.
Try to maintain your sanity by doing the best you can in your situation - knowing that's all you can do right now.
I'm sorry you don't have your parents, or husband to talk to right now. But we here on the brds know you are a quality person.
Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk (not that i can do anything to help).
I'm trying to say you do have real friends here on the brds, who want you to pull thru these difficulties.
I'm sure things will eventually work themselves out. - Cos
Oh Tammy you can't be afraid to go out. Screw them!
If they get a ticket maybe they will understand they need to make sure their dog can't get out. Maybe if you explain to them their dog is probably very nice when they are around but a real nightmare when they aren't and you are afraid of their dog. It may help. Dogs turn weird when their owner's aren't around and if they don't understand this then maybe the dog belongs in doggie jail.
They don't understand how their perfect dog acts when not being watched and don't care its.... Not your problem. It's theirs.
I have these neighbors that are a young couple. They have 2 kids, one from her previous boyfriend when she was about 18. (she used to live in the apartments next to me when she was pregnant w/ her first kid) Now, she moves back, nice girl, w/ new boyfriend and another baby in tow. And A Pitbull. (which I have nothing against if you are a responsible pet owner.) But they let this dog out repeatedly w/o a leash and it can get into my yard which is fenced, and i have a littler dog that is on a runner w/ 2 collars and 2 leashes attached to it.- just in case one breaks. I am surrounded now w/ neighbors -1 has 3 rottweilers, 1 that has a Dobberman(SP?), and 1 a Pitbull. I have a bordercolllie shepherd mix. So my daughter goes to leave our dog out last night, and low and behold theres the Pitbull in my yard. Scared the shit out of my kid. So I go out on my deck (I only know their first names, but do know her dad is an Officer for our Boro.) And start yelling their names. It took 10 minutes before they responded. I politely ask them to please remove their dog yet again so i can leave mine out. (I also suggest they use a leash) when her boyfriend decides to call me a Bitch! And that their dog "Just got loose somehow" -yet again?? And How he isnt a threat to anyone. Ok, well he might be friendly but Im not taking chances w/ my kids. So after trying to settle this calmly, im forced to call the police. Now I feel really bad about it. I am a really easy going person. They do not have a yard and I've let their kids play in my front yard, and even let them let their dog use it as long as they clean up after it. But now I'm a bitch? My marriage isn't going great, I have assholes for neighbors and 2 kids, 1 who is mildly autistic and deathly afraid of dogs (except ours), and im financially screwed at the moment. I wish so bad I could just move right now. I hate this life (love my kids though) and really wish it would just all disappear. Hell I might just disappear...Now more than ever I really wish my parents weren't dead!(sorry you all had to read this, but I had no where else to vent.)
Sometimes you just have to vent your feelings or lose it. Much better to vent. Sorry that you are having such a rough time right now. If talking would help, you can pm me. I know we don't know each other, but I have spent many years dealing with dogs of all breeds and also might be able to help with that problem. We also had a rescue Pit Bull who until he was two years old and matured mentally was a big sweetie, but once that happened he got very agressive and could never be trusted with any other dog or person after that.
> got up at 4:00 a.m. to work on homework.
> thinks Tammy needs to document all the times this dog is out and unleashed; find out what the local ordinance is for loose dogs; call your animal control department and explain to them how you fear for the safety of you and your children; try sending them a nice letter explaining how you are concerned about your child's safety, and ask them if they wouldn't mind being more diligent about keeping their dog in their own yard (you get more bees with honey than vinegar); keep a copy of this letter and a history of how you have tried to resolve this situation; if they turn inflammatory toward you, you have the right to call the police at any time, but you want to make it your last resort. unfortunately, you have to live near these people. good luck and pm me if you need to. last thing you need right now is a fibro flare, fibro sistah!
((((Tammy)))))
< thinks fan has great advice but I would add, especially if you send a letter to officials is send it registered mail. Make the receiver sign for it and keep the receipt.
< Knows how Tammy feels about Pit bulls. When I lived in an Apt complex we had neighbors who let they dog run amock all the time. One day I'm on my deck when once again my neighbor was dragging her dog back in and she sees me. Right off she says to me, "oh don't worry about her she's a baby" and I said "their all someones baby until they attack someone". Let's just say that was our one and only conversation. BTW Complaining to management did nothing and the dog still ran loose every few days or so.
^^^^^^Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for taking the time to actually read that. Yes it really happened, and now after a long day of trying to get some other things in order I feel a little better. I want to thank all of you for your advice and concern too. It really does mean alot to me that you all care so much. I do have some friends here to talk to but they arent family and sometimes not having family gets hard. I've been so nice to these people w/ the pitbull, but since her dad is a police officer in this Boro where i live, im afriad not much will be done to them, unlike the people behind me who got a BIG fine last year for one of their Rottwiellers getting loose ALOT!! I am just in general a nice person, and I like peace, not conflict. I try to see the good no matter what, but even I have my limits. I will be on and off here over the next few weeks while I try to get my life back in some order. But again thank you all, It put a smile on my face just reading this knowing that you all care too. (And careful what you wish for Cosmic, ask Dutchess, I can be quite chatty if you get to know me!LOL!!!) Smile Wink
^ I can't wait for the awards show either - been thinking about it all day !
Just found out a friend of a friend's 20- something daughter, who was a missonary in Afghanistan, is back because she got sick there and was given some kind of drug (no one knows what) from a "Dr" there and she now has irreversible brain damage. Can we just get the f*ck out of that God-forsaken country - soliders, missonaries, EVERYONE ?! And parents, if your children want to save the world, send them to, I don't know, Louisiana perhaps ?! Mad
<~~~~ is now going to bed after seeing Tom win his award.
<~~~~ is so glad she recorded it on dvr, this way she can just tape Tom's clip to another tape... won't have to subject herself to any of the other garbage she already had to sit through to get to Tom. Big Grin
> thinks Tammy needs to persue the law enforcement option; her dad is only a police officer, they are still accountible for their actions, on and off work; if you do not receive any satisfaction, there should be an internal affairs section or citizen's advisory board or advocate. hang in there, i hope things get better soon.
