Once again, I meant the vocals on the chorus are weak; not that the lyrics are weak. On the second chorus, especially, he swallows the word "she" in the line "Every time she passes by". This message has been edited. Last edited by: witilinki, |

Witi, wow..this really seems to stick with you.
I went to a show last week. The music was really good. The guy was phenominal. But after 45 minutes, I had to leave. Something just wasn't rubbing me right. Maybe it was a resonance that was too prevalent or overused. I just was much happier once I left. So I know what you may be experiencing. Tom swallows endings and beginnings to many of this words on this album, and others. Let's confine the discussion to this song. 1. The song was done without phones with apparently little mastering. Words will get clipped. 2. The song is so well ennuciated throughout that if he skips a word ending here and there, your mind really notices, but you instictively know what the word was, so it shouldn't matter. (Don't fault the artist for not being the guy on the "Hooked on Phonics" tape. That type of suscinct, precise voice has no business singing this song. This character is one depicted as having no wealth or power, so he probably has only basic education. If he HAD all this, he would have taken Maria away from there and made a life for themselves. THAT is real art...) |
