Vh1 classic are to air a Mudcrutch documentary. For more info click here. The Doc Will be produced by Peter Bogdanovitch who directed the highly acclaimed Runnin' Down a dream film chronicling the rise and rise of Petty and the Heartbreakers. The film will feature both eras of mudcrutch.

Is VH1 Classic a show on VH1? Or a separate channel? I only get VH1. I hope I get to see it!

VH1 CLASSIC is seperate channel. It,ll be on the american version of it. Being Irish I only get the British one myself. Does anybody know a good site where I can watch tv for free on?

I'm guessing it's going to be the Mudcrutch portion of the Runnin' Down a Dream movie with a few clips of the studio videos tacked in.

I'm hoping they'll also show some footage of the concerts, if anyone did some filming there.

I got the email today announcing the documentary, but it didn't mention the live shows.

I'm still happy to see it. (My son gets the channel and will tape it for me. )

I hope they discuss Danny Roberts in it.

I just watched it ..great show, of course..

it was really good, most of it what many of us saw(excerpts from runnin down a dream).... but near the end theres a clip of benmont saying something about how they are playing this awesome new pop music that everyones gonna want to start playing, and tom replies something to the sort...ya all the young people are gonna wish they were old.........---i dont know the exact quote but it was pretty good..when someone figures it out post it..............love it

That was very cool.

One of the many things we noticed was that live footage from the Mudcrutch gigs. C'mon Tom, cough up those tapes!

Also noticed footage of Mike playing a different guitar (not the tele) during the credits (bootleg Flyer) and then suddenly he is playing the tele again They must have edited in some other footage.

That was really fun to watch. Gonna go watch it again soon!

Ahh. I have Comcast OnDemand, and on the "VH-1 Classic" is listed on the menu. But it's only a bunch of old videos.

I just watched this last night. Enjoyed it , but most of it is from the RDAD documentary, and there were no live Mudcrutch clips, other than some footage of them onstage at the very end - without sound.

I thought it was interesting that Tom never played the Hofner Club bass in any of those studio cuts they showed, although that's all he played (apparently) on the tour. I was under the impression that the Hofner was his favorite bass in the studio, and it seems that he said somewhere that they've used it for years in the studio.....and yet it seems he didn't use it on the Mudcrutch record.

I have watched it twice now--the second time just to verify something I thought I noticed about half-way through the first viewing.

Not once during the whole program is Tom Petty's last name given--either in print or verbally--until the rolling credits at the end where each band member's name and instrument is listed. Every other band member has his name below his image the first time he is responding to an interview question--except Tom P. All of the diehard fans know him, of course, but a casual viewer would not know this guy's last name after watching the whole program.

Not only that, but "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" is never mentioned, either. Now I know that the bands are two entities and need to be viewed separately, but Mudcrutch is the historical foundation of TPATH. You would think there would be at least some reference to that to establish the historical context. My gosh, we all know about The Quarry Men and Johnny and the Moondogs as part of the genesis of The Beatles. The only reference was in one VH1 Classic commercial for the program that began, "Before there was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers there was Mudcrutch . . ." That commercial ran once during the show.

The resurrection of Mudcrutch and the wonderful work they have done in the past year need to be noted and celebrated. However, I also think this film should take note of Mudcrutch in its historical context. (That is done well in RDAD.)

This video is not as powerful a lasting documentary as it could have been with some attention to these two details. But it is probably not intended to actually be a documentary--more just an teaser to buy and listen to the Mudcrutch products.

(Sheesh--at least tell the viewer the whole name of the band leader!)

I was listening to the radio in the car last night and the DJ said, We have some Tom Petty and the Police coming up next.

I really think people just don't like long band names.

But really there is only one Tom. lol

Maybe Tom could change his name and then the band name would be Tom Petty like Jethro Tull isn't Ian Anderson.

Or maybe they could just call all future labels as The Heartbreakers.

Still though he'd be only Tom.

But good point, I wonder why they left out his last name?

I still haven't been able to see the show. I thought my son could record it for me at his father's house, but he said he can't...TiVo or some such thing. No one has VCRs anymore. I'm hoping they'll release it on DVD.
