I am so sorry to hear this - all my thoughts and prayers are with Danny and his family that they get thru this crisis.

As many have received an email about the current (Sat. pm) situation is with Danny. He has made it though a very long day of surgery and the nulorogist is pleased with Danny as of the am. The work in the suregies were to remove some bone fragments in the brain area. Doctors will not know the extent of the injuries if any until Danny has come out of an induced coma state he is now in to give his body time to adjust to the trama sustanined yesterday.
The doctors say he has lost his vision in the left eye, and had more maxiofacial surgery on the left side of his head. Because of the large amount of support and calls, Gail is asking that we make a communication center to report on Danny's recovery from this site. So please pass this website address out to anyone who may inquire. All is well at this time and any future updates on his daily progress will be posted here last afternoon to early evening after the doctors have had time to look over Danny and talk with the family on his condition.
God bless Danny and his family during this recovery period, help give them strenght though your thoughts and prayers.

This is so tragic. I am so sorry for him and his whole family. I can't imagine going through something like that.

Newest update on Danny from Gail - May 5, 2008

I am so happy to have a good report to give you. This morning when Babs and I were driving to see Danny at 9 am, we were both praying for progress. When we got there, he could clearly recognize us. I asked him if he could see me and he nodded yes. The neurosurgeon came in and asked him to obey some simple commands and he got an "A". Then they took the bolt out of his head that measures brain pressure (not in front of us!) When we came back at 1 pm, they had taken the tubes out of his throat (extubated him.) and he has an oxygen mask on. He is not supposed to talk but he said hey Bro to Terry and smiled. He tried to talk to Babs and I some. Some of it was pretty screwed up, but we don't know if that's the brain injury or the medication.He doesn't know about his left eye--one thing at a time. BUT YOUR PRAYERS ARE WORKING!!! Please keep them coming because he has a long road ahead.

We hope that he will be moved out of SICU to a step-down unit in a couple of days and then he will be able to have other visitors. I promise to keep you posted. He is being assessed by physical therapy, occupational therapy, eye docs and facial surgeons. I'll let you know!

I am so happy--I feel like this is the first breath I've taken since 11:15 Friday morning. Babs and Terry send their love and appreciation for all your support.

Update on Danny Roberts' condition

After the exciting elation of Danny's progress yesterday - having all tubes removed - recognizing Babbs, Gail, and Terry - attempting to speak - and giving some response to questions asked - today, reality set in. Danny's recovery is going to be a long haul - for him and for the family. It will be a while before they can accurately tell what damage his brain has sustained, and how long and how successful his recovery will be. He will need additional surgery on his left eye socket, as well as, more maxiofacial surgery. He will be going to therapy at some point. That will take at least a month.

So, while we are all excited about his improvement, this trauma is far from over. His injuries are serious and recovery likely will take several months.

Best guess is that it will be at least a week or two before Danny will be ready for visitors. In the meantime, if anyone wants to send a note, card, joke, photo, or love in any way, please send it to:
