OK So, I've figured out how to play this song but I can't seem to figure out the lyrics. Tom is kind of mumbling on it. Does anyone happen to have the lyrics, or know where I can find them?

hello CD listeners, we have come to the point on this album where those listening on cassette or records will have to stand up or sit down and turn over record or tape. In fairness to those listeners we will now take a few seconds before we begin side two... Thank you... Here's side two - tom petty, 1989

I've tried. There's nothing out there. Probably because the song was never actually released I have it on a bootleg. But I was hoping that maybe somebody who has this song also has the lyrics.

This is what I have........

Don't It Get Weird

You ain’t got no real direction, makes you feel so lost

You can’t seem to make connections, cause you get your signal crossed

And you ain’t got time, and you ain’t got money, all that ain’t your fault

Still you can’t help feeling funny when you get those second thoughts

Don’t it…...don’t it…….don’t it……don’t it get weird

Don’t it…...don’t it…….don’t it……don’t it get weird

Cause you ain’t been used, you just been wasted, it’s the same obscene routine

You ain’t been licked, you just been tested, it makes you feel so second string

And you ain’t got friends, you just got lovers, the whole scene’s cut and dried

Now there ain’t nowhere to run for cover when you sign on the dotted line

Repeat Chorus

Don’t it get so weird and crazy, you can’t quite get the feel

Get so wired and hazy, you can’t tell what’s for real, no you can’t tell what’s for real

Solo

Repeat 2nd verse

Repeat Chorus (2x)

Something makes me think the name of the song is just "Don't It". Maybe JM can verify that?

While singing to TPATH, "Quiet Mommy, I'm trying to listen to Thomas." Brett, age 5.
After listening to a Mudcrutch show I asked Brett what she thought about the new Mudcrutch music. Her response: "It's great. I didn't know it would be so thrilling." Brett, age 6.
"All right, now we're at the part of the show that we just go rip roarin crazy. Are you ready to go rip roarin crazy with me?" Tom Petty 6/28/03 Summerfest
Baby, those few hours linger on in my head forever...

Awesome! Thank you very much.

I'm not sure the "official" name of the song, but what I have it's called Don't It Get Weird

Just happened upon this thread now - I think its "Don't It Get Weird" as well. TomFest's lyrics look spot on by the way...

^ You are correct, sir. The bootleg title was "Don't It", the real title is "Don't It Get Weird". I had the two mixed around, sorry.
