Not sure if anybody on here has brought this up before, but surely everyone has thought about it. I'm just dying to know haha.

Question:
Who is the faceless man on the cover of the Mudcrutch album?

Choices:
A random guy from the 1880s
A President of the U.S. (Rutherford B. Hayes?)
Tom Petty's long gone relative
Mike's long gone relative
Benmont's long gone relative
Tom Leadon's long gone relative
Randall's long gone relative
Other (discuss)

I saw you sail across a river
Underneath Orion's Sword
In your eyes there was a freedom
I had never known before

It is a wanted poster.

What you do is copy it cut out the face and wear it to the next Mudcrutch concert.

So your face is there.

I don't know who it's supposed to be but I don't care for the cover at all.

I think they grabbed a royalty free image from the 1880's Smile

I love the idea of everyone making mudcrutch masks and pulling 'em out and wearing em for part of a song at the next show Smile

(you can attach a popsicle stick to 'em and use them for fans the rest of the time)

I'm on board to join the Mudcrutch Mask Brigade next time around. Otherwise, heads without faces are creepy. Eek

I'd like to think that I know the story behind the image, but I really don't wanna discuss it. I can tell you that its taken 21 years, but basically, I'm married to that guy. There are simply times that I think every man resembles that painting.
