I just heard Scare Easy on an ad for "My Name is Earl".

I let out a small scream, then calmed down.

isnt this going against his words of not using his work to advertise something. he said in concert "I Promise i wont put it any tv commercials" about a particular song but also his songs in general.

I do like hearing it on tv but i dont like it after all he hypes up no advertisements or sponsorships.

but hey I still love 'em regardless

Yeah, there seems to be some slippage going on. The NBA playoff ads used "Saving Grace" and "Running Down a Dream" appeared in MLB spots.

I would imagine that he gave permission for his songs to be used on a limited basis, as opposed to selling his songs for use in an extended product campaign (like when GM based a campaign on Bob Segar's "Like a Rock").

Using a song in an ad for "My Name is Earl" isn't too different than "The Waiting" or "The Last DJ" appearing in an episode of the "Simpsons."

And radio stations use snippets of songs in ads that promote the station.

It's a slippery slope, but he's still a far cry from corporate sponsorships.
