I'll try to keep this short but my head is still swimming a little so please pardon me if I start to babble...
My "former boyfriend" and I have been following Tom and the boys around together for the last 7 years (well, not non-stop...but you know what I mean... right?). We try to get in at least 6 shows per tour, making our summers into a string of fantastic road trips that really break up the monotony of the rat race. Sometimes we're on the lawn, sometimes we're close enough to dream of scoring a tossed pick. Doesn't really matter as long as we're there. Last weekend, for our 7th anniversary, we drove down from DC to NC and we're rocking out on Mike's side of the stage. Great seats and both of our faces are lit up with joy (even though it had to be well over a thousand degrees Fahrenheit)! After catching up with TPATH in NY, NJ, PA, and VA, this was to be our last set of shows for the 2008 tour season. I was getting prepared (but trying not!) to be a little bit sad after this trip with no more shows to look forward to this year (oh, to be able to take more time off of work)! Anyway, during End of The Line, we always have our arms around one another, bopping and singing and smiling. We love us some Wilbury. After End of the Line, I turned to find my beloved on one knee, holding a black fuzzy box. I most definitely was not grasping what was going down when he asked, in front of the band and all of section 3, "Will you go to the end of the line with me? Will you marry me?". Eventually, I realized that he was serious. I probably asked him a few times if he was, but I don't remember too well! He says he felt like he was on his knee for "the better part of a year" before I figured out what was going on... and when I did I said yes!! Apparently he had also been holding up a giant sign asking Tom to pop the question for him. One side requesting "The Waiting" and the other side proposing! That part is a little blurry for me... in fact it's several days later and my head is still in the clouds!! Thank you, Tom, Mike, Benmont, Ron, Scott, Steve, and all the TPATH fans for providing us with so much joy over the years, and for being part of a proposal that we'll surely never forget. |
