Not sure about a TPATH connection, but I know Gary Busey joined Bruce Springsteen on stage around that time. In Philadelphia, as I recall. They did "Rave On", and probably another song or 2. This would have been right after "The Buddy Holly Story" came out. Great movie!

Ironically I think Keith Moon died that same night, after seeing the movie.

I actually have a pic I found somewhere with Busey and Petty playing together, but I have no clue how to post it, nor do I know where it was taken, but by the looks of it, the timeline mentioned is about right. If nothing else, this is a confirmation of sorts.

i found it over at mudcrutch farm. it says its from Trouser Press 1978.

OMG! That picture is priceless! Good ole Gary Busey. My brother had the pleasure of meeting him in a casino, one time. What a character!
Call me clueless, but I've just now discovered his musical talents.

Gary Busey was great until his accident. It is amazing how much TMI can change a person. I loved "The Buddy Holly Story". Thanks for sharing the photo!

Gary Busey also narrated the "History of Rock 'n Roll" ten part series that was just on VH1 Classic.

How can I get a copy of that pic with Tom and Gary?
