The first time I seen Tom Petty in concert was in October of 1999 during the Echo Tour in Chicago at the United Center. This was an AMAZING show, and I haven't missed Petty since.

I was wondering 2 things:
1) Does anybody know who opened this show? (can't find info anywhere online)
2) Does a recording exist? (I'm new to Tom Petty online discussions and don't know if there is a board for these types of things)

Thanks in advance everyone!

I think Jackson Browne toured with Tom on the Echo tour.

Think I'll pack it in and buy a pick-up
Take it down to L.A.

It was the Blind Boys of Alabama. I saw them the night earlier in Madison and that's who opened...

It depends what city. In Toronto, my first Petty concert as well we had Lucinda Williams!

I just reread the review from the next day. The review was great however as I have stated time and time again, the crowd was lame. There were a little under 9000 people for that show at the Molson amphitheatre. Half of capacity.

Anywho, it was Lucinda Williams in Toronto

Sorry, maybe my phrasing was confusing. I saw TPATH the night before Chicago and the Blind Boys opened...Lucinda opened the summer leg of the tour only...

I saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee in '99, and Lucinda Williams opened. She was great! I felt bad, there were so few people in their seats before TPATH came on, and very little applause. But she and her band ROCKED!!

I have a few bootlegs from the echo tour, but not one from Chicago. If you want a different show, to start trading around, just let me know.

If you have a myspace page, You can look up H B Chick. She has tons of info on Tom's tours. She's really cool and gets back quickly.
