Realistically, it has nothing to do with Tony Dimitriades. Attending a Tom Petty concert when he is on tour can be easily accommodated through your local community. You'd be surprised how compassionate and generous people can be. And, there are so many ways to raise the money, if necessary. Have a garage sale or a fundraiser. You'll get enough money to buy tickets for several people.

Does a child's condition have to be terminal to qualify for a wish?
No. Many of the children who qualify for a wish go on to lead healthy lives. We grant the wishes of medically eligible children (i.e. those diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions - i.e., a progressive, degenerative or malignant condition that has placed the child's life in jeopardy.)
The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Children who have reached the age of 2½ and are under the age of 18 must be referred to the Foundation and determined to be medically eligible for a wish by their physician. The child's treating physician makes the final determination of whether a child's medical condition qualifies him or her for a wish.
From reading this, I guess Make a Wish can't help, but maybe (hopefully) they'll make an exeption if you contact them. Good luck!

I just read in Rolling Stone that Tom will be performing in the Hamptons this summer. Apparently tickets are $15,000 but also include sother shows with Prince and a few other artists. They do not perform on the same date .If you could get Aticket I would be willing to help wtih the airfare and I'm sure others on the boards and in the fan club would pitch in.
No offense but why are you guys keeping this thread needlessly alive?
The originator, markodwopo, dropped in and dropped out. He's no more interested in getting a severley disabled 20 year old to a Tom Petty concert than my dog is, if I had one.
The ticket was probably for himself in the guise of securing a ticket for a disabled girl and that's why he's not taking this thread seriously or even responding to anyone's suggestions.
NO offense Jibilrd but this was real and for my daughter , she listens to TP every day music is her life you obviously don't know how much time one must invest in caring for a disabled child sorry I didn't meet your expectations of some one that was serious . Maybe you should re think your purpose ??
It took you 2 months to reply to this thread?! Yeah, you were really serious! And, after abandoning this thread for two months, you didn't even have the common courtesy to thank the people who offered suggestions, and you still haven't thanked them. Your first priority was to address my post. Anyway, you have plenty of suggestions how to get your daughter to a Tom Petty concert. Be resourceful. Get in touch with your "community".

^Maybe markodwopo doesn't have a lot of time to come on here because he is taking care of his disabled daughter.
I don't believe that surfing a forum is a top priority for this person when there are more serious things that need to be taken care of.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *The show's most thrilling moment, "Don't Come Around Here No More," with Nicks on backing vocals and tambourine, ended in a crashing, surreally strobe-lit jam with both Petty and Nicks thrashing like teenagers. In that moment, their silky blond hair flying, flash frozen in the strobe's white light, they seemed both timeless and immediate, classic and forever young.* ~Rolling Stone Magazine~
** No matter what is going on in the world or what tepid drivel is pouring out of the radio, just remember that somewhere out there, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are rocking for all of us.**
Oh, for God's sake, PLEASE, give it a rest! Be sensible!!! Are you suggesting this guy never had a moment to himself, 24/7, for 60 days? The disabled child never slept? And, when he finally did find a very, very precious moment of free time, instead of using it to thank the people who offered suggestions, he took the time to grumble over my post and forget about thanking anyone. So much for priorities.
jibilrd, Your right Thanks to all for your suggestions but my daughter is 21, not terminal and she does not fit all but one of them . And jibilrd she does require 24/7 care so time is very valuable!! We have been in touch with our community thanks for the obvious. My wife ,My son and I all seem to have problems with priorities ? I see you got it all figured out. Thanks again to the others!!
It's evident from this thread where your priorities lie.
jibilrd - this is the most upsetting thread I've EVER read on these boards. My best friend has a child who is disabled and almost did die. I have another friend whom I've not seen in several years because she is so busy with her disabled son. Yes - it does take every moment of every day to care for people who can't take care of themselves. Not only does the daily care take time but the meetings people need to attend to get their children the services they need, Dr. appointments take time - and there are usually several every week, and in addition to that there is house work, laundry, and food shopping. Paying bills and perhaps this person actually works for a living. Free time for my friend is usually spent doing some chore that didn't get done as a result of trying to keep up with her other two children along with her disabled one. You deserve a big kick in the ass for your comments on this thread.
You really pissed me off.
