Hi Everybody!
Is there a place on or off your profile to put an original avatar? Like one of the 'Wilburys'? Thanks for your response.

I am under the impression we're stuck with the pre-set avatars. You can customize your signature, though!

Some members who have been here awhile have custom avatars. I think you have to be a high ranking member - so stick around and post, post, post! Welcome Ritameter & Andrew - I'm fairly new to posting myself, but a long-time reader!

^actually I don't think time has anything to do with it. Some of us who had custom avatars "back in the day" before they eliminated that option, had them linked to our own personal websites. Since there is no longer any place on here where you can change the custom avatar name/location, but the old custom avatar site links remain, I just overwrite the old custom avatar filename (from my persoanl website) with a new picture. Make sense? Smile

AmyLou is right - you had to have an account way back when they had the link-to-picture feature. Unfortunately, the majority of us are stuck with the pre-determined (boring) avatars.

I, too, LOVE your animation AmyLou!!! Smile

You can use html in your signature block as soon as your account is activated. If you're not sure how to do it, let me know.

I just found you Slibilon. I know HTML, but never heard of EVE before. Thanks for your offer and I'm sure I'll take you up on it before long.

Three posts up you offered me help if I couldn't get the html signature to work after I had asked if we could use personal avatars. You said html could be used for signatures and if I needed any help you would help. Sorry if I didn't describe my problem in a logical way.

Sounds like you are saying that if I can go back to my original name of 'Cathee' then I could have my original Avatar as usual but then don't think I can go back without getting the boot.... Frown

Yeah ... something like that. Only I want the name I have, but the avatar from Photobucket which is now my signature as my avatar. Oh boy, I think I'm starting off on the wrong foot.

How's the family? Wink

The family's great, thanks! And your foot looks OK to me. Smile

Before you ask about the "secondary" names some of us have under our user names I will explain that. At one time there was a moderator who had access to do that and would upon request. It appears he is no longer involved in that capacity.

Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome Athena and I try to keep that foot where it belongs, but it usually ends up in the wrong place.
Now with the secondary name, do you mean (in your case) The Girl at the High School Dance or member? From other websites I've put my foot in, when it hits a certain number, it will turn over and give you an upgrade name like when you hit 100 posts it will change 'member' to 'junior' and so forth. Or not.
Is there a 'Traveling wilburys' thread? I just loved that group.
Thanks again for the welcome and hope to see you on the board. Cool

I was referring to Girl at the High School Dance. It never occurred to me until you mentioned it that the "member" never does change. That would be a fun feature. Although on another (not TPATH) board I lurk on just changed the required amount and a bunch of people were "downgraded". It was all taken in fun though Smile

There is no Traveling Wilburys thread, but I believe there is someone around who maintains their own Wilburys website. Unfortunately, I don't remember who or know the address.

The It's Good To Be King Thread would be the best place to post Wilburys stuff.

Hi Athena!

Thanks for all the info and I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I lurk on other boards, too, but they all like each other. I'm going to take a look at the 'It's good to be King'. It's so sad that Roy and George died. The Wilburys were the best. Hope to see you around.

I think they should bring back custom avatars. It's commonplace on most forums, so why not here?

But is that a Shakespeare avatar I see?
