Oh, I love that you named your daughter Shannon after Del Shannon!!

I agree that there is so much perfect music to choose from, it is impossible to choose one!

~ I'm surprised by this, frightened by this - nothing ever got me so out of my head, baby ~

I have the albums "Damn The Torpedos" and "Anthology: Throughout the years" so far. Terry, do you have those CDs?

Besides 'Anthology', I would have to say that my favorite Tom album is definitely 'Full Moon Fever', as it was his break out album, in a sense, and has so many good songs on it, is just a really good album all the way through, you know? I can listen to all the songs, and not feel the need to skip any, so yeah. 'FMF' is my fave Tom album.

I am new to the board and I am "resurrecting" this old thread from 2003. It is interesting to read where everyone's head was 2 years ago. Wonder if anything has changed, opinions, etc.

I have to agree with the person who said, "How can you pick a favorite? It's like chosing one child over another?"

These are the CD's I play the most- and not in any particular order:

Full Moon Fever 89

Greatest Hits 93

WildFlowers 94

(personal note: 88-95 best and special times in my life. And during those special times with those 2 special people, guess who was playing in the background day and night?....)

Hard Promises 81 (wow 24 years I've had this!!!)

**********

Growing on me real fast: ECHO 99 (GOT NO AIRPLAY IN LA)

Need to get into: She's The One 96
The Last DJ (2003?- THIS GOT NO AIRPLAY IN LOS ANGELES. Figures. Dissed by the very goons he was blasting himself!)

Learnin To Fly

Yeah, I hit town hard last night
Abraham and Moses
Some other friends of mine
Moses started drinkin' he got a little rude
We woke up in the bushes
Beat to hell and nude
Oh, mama I'm about to give out
I'm Davey Crockett in a coonskin town
I'm Roy Rogers in a one horse town
Oh, mama I'm about to give out (ECHO 99)

My favorite album is "Anthology: Throughout the years" because I think it has the best songs in the album. I really like it besides "Damn the torpedos." Mikemono, do you like neither of those albums?

The best album -- but it didn't get any airplay anywhere.

"Damn The Torpedoes" all the way!!

http://dogontherunmusic.blogspot.com/

hello CD listeners, we have come to the point on this album where those listening on cassette or records will have to stand up or sit down and turn over record or tape. In fairness to those listeners we will now take a few seconds before we begin side two... Thank you... Here's side two - tom petty, 1989

i'm going to have to say full moon fever. i think it's b/c that's when i was first introduced to TPHBs, when that album came out. i remember listening to that tape so many times in the car, over and over and over, for years. i used to play travel hockey w/ my brothers, so we were in the car every weekend, & my dad bought that tape when it came out, to add to his collection of 2 or 3 other tapes, lol. so needless to say we listened to it alot.

I'd say Wildflowers. It is such a joy to listen to. However, choosing a favorite is so hard because it depends on my mood. I'm a true Gemini. Cool That's part of why Tom is great. His music is so varied that has the right tune for any moment. Luv U!
