My favorite Tom Petty album is:

*"Full Moon Fever"
*"Into the Great Wide Open" follows closely behind.

Sometimes I think that they're both my favorite!

~Now when all the bandits that you turned your other cheek to
All lay down their bandanas and complain
And you want somebody you don't have to speak to
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane?~
*Bob Dylan*

They are all great, but I have no doubts about my two favorites:

1) Damn The Torpedoes -- anytime someone tells me they want to buy their first TPATH album, I advise them to get this one. It is TPATH's finest example of all the various combinations of things that have to come together to make a great record: writing, playing, engineering, heart, soul, and attitude.

2) Echo -- a close second, IMO the best writing Tom ever did, this album is often the one most overlooked and under-appreciated by "casual" TPATH fans.

Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers, hands down.

And it's wake up time
Time to open your eyes
And rise and shine

SmileI have to say "Into the Great Wide Open" is my favorite CD/ALBUM, then Cool Full Moon Fever and the Cool Wildflowers. But my favorite boxset is Playback. Cool

Dwight Yoakam in my heart forever! Tom Petty still ROCKS! Population Me came out June 24th. It is a great new CD from Dwight Yoakam and it is so cool, so please do yourself a favor and go get a copy. If you like music and Rebels check it out!

Hmmm...

I would answer the question this way: "Damn the Torpedoes" is his most powerful album, "Wildflowers" is his most moving, "Let Me Up (I've Had Enough)" is his hardest-rocking and most underrated work, and "Full Moon Fever" is his most overrated (although still a very good album).
