Who is the artist or do you know, so we can narrow down the search?

Tom Petty Smile

Apparently a fairly rare tune. I have the song but the vocals at some points in the tune are unintelligible.

Thanks

That's going to be a difficult one to find, it seems. I was able to locate a few websites with the song listed but no lyrics. Sorry.

ok ... well this is my best guess at the moment for the lyrics of "There Ain't Enough Money"

Please, if anyone has corrections, feel free to post them....

***********************************************************
There Aint' Enough Money
Tom Petty

[Verse 1]
There ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you
There ain't enough sand on any sunny beach in lieu
Baby, I work all day, work all night
Whatever I do it won't be right
Cause, there ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you

[Verse 2]
Ain't another man in the world could feel your rhythym
Everything I do justa seem to be going down hill
Hoah, I work all day, work all night
Whatever I do it won't be right
Cause, there ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you

BREAK

[Verse 3]
Ain't another man in life could play your rhythym
Everything I do justa seem to be going down hill
Say, I work all day, work all night
Whatever I do it won't be right
Cause, there ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you

BREAK

...Elvis sounds

[Verse 4]
There ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you
There ain't enough sand on any sunny beach in lieu
Baby, I work all day, work all night
Whatever I do it won't be right
Cause, there ain't enough money in the whole wide world for you

BREAK

...More Elvis sounds ... Smile

If you want to hear the tune, PM me ( it's very fun)

Smile

This might be "Ain't another man in life could pay your bills" or something...I don't know, I never cared for the tune myself.

To be quite honest I consider "Ain't Enough Money" and its companion piece "Goodbye Little Rich Girl" to be the absolute nadir of Petty's songwriting career. If anyone ever criticizes Jeff Lynne for coming along and changing the direction of TP's songwriting well this is the stuff he was coming up with just before Lynne came into his life.

Thanks for your thoughts, John. And I appreciate your tip about the lyrics.

I certainly have to agree this song is not up to Petty Standards. But I most certainly enjoy the throw back to good 'ol down home rock-a-billy the song provides.

This has nothing to do with the topic but..........Everytime I read the title of this thread I'm reminded of a short story called, The Rocking Horse Winner, by D.H. Lawrence. In that story the phrase, "There isn't enough money," is repeated again and again. It's a heartbreaking story.
