I'd like to collect all the songwriters here in one thread. If you can put songs online, please place them here, or give a link to your website.
Feel free to give comments, but please keep to the intended theme of the thread. |

Thank you for trying this, Jostein.
I don't really consider myself a songwriter. I write poetry sometimes, and imagine them as song lyrics. I "tend to blow hot and cold"...sometimes things mesh well into something better than I imagined when I began. Sometimes I sit there without any inspiration, as if in a stupor. I've had kind of a "stupor day" today. Worried about a friend's health redirected my energy. So...shall we attempt to write a song here? I know you said "post what you have." I don't wanna. What I've got is either too personal or unpolished. Someone please give me a mood &/or a topic. That's how I tend to start. I usually brood about it for a while. Shall we be silly and light? Or introspective with hidden meanings? Or blue and forlorn? Or do you have a better idea? Since we can't post sheet music, I assume you want guitar chords... |

i'm the songwriter for my band. does that count?
http://dogontherunmusic.blogspot.com/ hello CD listeners, we have come to the point on this album where those listening on cassette or records will have to stand up or sit down and turn over record or tape. In fairness to those listeners we will now take a few seconds before we begin side two... Thank you... Here's side two - tom petty, 1989 |

Sure! We'll expect more from you, wilbury. Like words, music, phrasing and intonation cues! I like your picture...you're a cute little "red x".

Wow, Scarecrow you sound great. Do I detect a Petty influence?
My signature has a link to my own primitive musical explorations. It's designed for limited appeal, but I'm proud to present it. One of my tunes appears in a feature length indie film-- it's a dark comedy by Marcel Fayant called I Love That Effing Zippy. My SoundClick page contains a link to the movie's website. _________________________________________________________________________ My sounds. "What's a matter Schrader? Lazlow I really like your metric system! It is rather David Bowie or the Stranglers than Tom Petty, isn't it?
Willbury, I'd like to hear your song, too. Bluegill, would you like to write lyrics for a song about the riots in France? I could be a hard blues. |

Hey Lazlow, I really liked your music. Nice lyrics and some great hooks. I'm glad you liked my tunes. Yea, there's a little Petty influence I guess. I have absolutely no production values though - just me, a guitar and an old out-dated computer. But thanks for listening to them.
And Jostein, you have some great music too. Really nice guitar work! I haven't had time to listen to all of your songs yet, but I saved the link. Thanks again, to both of you for sharing. |

Hi Scarecrow, will you post lyrics and tabs for "The last Goodbye"? I'd really like to play it. In the chorus I'd sing the "for me" a bit higher, not getting to the basic tone and keep it floating like the chords. Do you know what I mean? It is a beautiful song. In Germany we would say "Ohrwurm" - "ear-worm".
Well, you could post the same for "Take that train". After all it is running over and over on my computer! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jostein, |

Here's me and a friend of mine doing a song he wrote. In addition to playing in the same band, we also work for the same company. This was written about a particularly evil executive that was with us at the time. It's called Watch Your Back
We had a lot of fun with this. We're both on acoustic guitars and vocals, and he overdubbed some bass and a drum track later. I borrowed the guitar riff from Neil Young....thanks Neil! |

Hey, that's cool, TomFest! I had to wait a long time to hear a piece of your music. I was always preasuming it must be something good. Thank you for sharing this! The song is perfect and the sound is perfect, especially the guitars come very straight. And the chorus sounds bright! Fine!

I have a band, Mike Mono Band, and im beginning to record a solo album with professional musicians and Wil. Im very unsure about it, Id much rather have it be my band, but im 15, and they think we dont know what we're doing. My parents wont pay for it if professionals arent on it, so thats the only way my music is getting out for now.
I'll post audios soon, when they're done { - God it's so painful when something that's so close is still so far outta reach - } |

Thanks Jostein! We've got more originals that we've recorded - some were in a proper studio and came out quite nicely. I hesitate to post them because Dael wrote them, not me. This one, I made a substantial songwriting contribution on, so I figured it would be OK if I shared it here. Glad you liked it!

TomFest, I know you credited the Neil Young riff. But boy does that voice flash me to Stephen Stills. I think its great.

Thank you. I tried to play your music (and TomFest's song), but I kept getting a "Cannot find server" message.
I thought the production values were fine--the material is so strong that it doesn't need gimmicks. I wish I had one song that would get over with just a voice and single guitar. _________________________________________________________________________ My sounds. "What's a matter Schrader?
