Hi everyone,

On the cover of the Mudcrutch EP, Tom is holding a Rickenbacker bass, although he doesn't play it on the album. Does anyone know if this bass has featured on any Heartbreakers or solo songs? (I haven't noticed a particularly Rickenbackery sound to any of the bass work.)

Cheers,
Andrew.

I was surprised to see Tom using the Rickenbacker bass in the studio clips during the Mudcrutch documentary. I had assumed that he was using the Hofner Club bass for the recordings, but now I'm not sure. It seems that he used the Hofner exclusively on the mini-tour they did.

I've heard him say in the past that he's used the Hofner Club bass for many years in the studio, but there's no doubt that Rickenbacker instruments have played a huge roll in their sound since the very earliest days of the band.
