I imagine that nearly everyone here knows the drill; tons of speculation about summer tour dates followed by rumors and questions and squinting and then more of the same. Don't know about you but... I can hardly wait!! Smile

Anyone care to venture a guess as to when the actual tour dates will be officially released?

I'll venture... quite optimistically... February 27th...

Well last year it was pretty early in the year. I would guess to capitalize on their appearance in the Superbowl. If I remember correctly, tickets went on sale the morning after the Superbowl (same as what Springsteen did this year). The 2006 tour, it seemed to me that the tour was announced and tickets went on sale later in the Spring, March or April.

If it is a European tour or any kind of US tour, I would guess late Spring, April.

After listening to a Mudcrutch show I asked Brett what she thought about the new Mudcrutch music. Her response: "It's great. I didn't know it would be so thrilling." Brett, age 6.
"All right, now we're at the part of the show that we just go rip roarin crazy. Are you ready to go rip roarin crazy with me?" Tom Petty 6/28/03 Summerfest
Baby, those few hours linger on in my head forever...

Yeah last year the tickets went on sale the morning after the superbowl, too. Hope they get their acts together sooner, rather than later, so I can plan *our* summer tour...

I noted that Mike Campbell shaved off his beard recently.

It could mean this indicates a tour of some kind, or just 6 more weeks of Winter. Smile

Really? I'm going to miss the beard. But I'm really missing the band!

Relic, if you got a picture I would love to see it. I really can't picture Mike without his beard.

^ There´s a small new picture of Mike on the Dirty Knobs MySpace site www.myspace.com/durtyknobs (scroll down to the posts). Yeah, it´s very small, but better than nothing. Wink Ahhh, I loved that beard, but whatever, he looks great. And the good thing is that we can see more of his face now. Smile

Anyway, I can´t wait for the announcement, it really drives me CRAZY!!!!!

I'm guessing there will be no tour this year, at least in the summer. I hope there will be but I think this will be an off year. Hopefully they get in the studio and crank out a HB's album to tour behind. By fall would be nice.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't tour this year either. Actually, I'm hoping they won't. Money is tight this year.

I'm not up for it either. Maybe it is just because its a dark short February day.

I really haven't seen anything I was like Oh Boy!

Then I looked at the concert schedule and thought there's a lot of good acts touring.

I just don't want to go. Odd year.

Well, since I was just recently laid off, I'm sorta hoping for no tour this summer so I don't have to worry about finding a way to get the time off from whatever new job I may be working. I know it's a bit selfish, but hey.....

Can't afford it either this year. Hopefully Tom and the Boys realize the sign of the times and hold off a bit. Maybe by then my big chance will come thru and I will get front row and no health issues to deal with.

Ok, I'll be the fly in the ointment. I do not want another greatest hits tour. I want a new damn album and a tour to support it.

There, I said it, no tour til a new album. Razz

Yeah, I don't see a North American summer tour either.

The possibilities that Tom listed include touring with Mudcrutch, a European Heartbreakers tour, or a new Heartbreakers album. And that's not even exhaustive.

I'm partial to the new album idea, personally.

I am more than ready for a concert. Anytime, TP tours, I am there! I think he is working on a new album.
