Surprised not to see anything on here about this but at least 2 members were recording a new album with Dylan last fall. Mike Campbell for sure but don't remember the other.

Yeah, it was mentioned somewhere in Heartbreakers Beach Party.

"I want Michael to do this song. This is a dance craze that's sweepin' my brain, you know...uh [pause]...I have dance crazes that occasionally sweep my brain." - Tom Petty, 4-11-99.

I found this a curious choice of wording:

Here, he plays with tried and tested 12-bar blues on most tracks, employing accordion overtones courtesy of Los Lobos' David Hildago and the fretwork of Mike Campbell, known for his contributions to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Mike Campbell is the only Heartbreaker listed in the liner notes of Bob Dylan's new album.

I would suggest checking out "My Wife's Home Town", "If You Ever Get To Houston", and "It's All Good". All are much better songs than "Beyond Here Lies Nothing".

Is there a website I can listen to clips? I was listening to the radio when "Beyond..." came on. Awful!

Witi,

If you go to Together Through Life in the music section of Amazon.com you can get 30 second clips of every song on the album.

Sorry, I don't know an online source for entire song versions for the songs on this record.

I saw Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp the other night. Great show. Mike Campbell produced and played on Dylans lates album. I kept fantasizing about some emergency that would cause Mike Campbell to be flown in to fill in at the last minute. Everything was great anyway!

I've got tickets for the July 30 show in Atlanta. I've never seen any of these guys live before, so I'm really excited! Smile

Get there really early because Willie went on a 5:30. We missed most of his set because of traffic. A lot of the roads going into these smaller venues aren't able to handle the additional traffic on top of week day rush hour.

Too bad, I thought Willie was great. I saw the 7/23 show in NJ. Stood in the rain for 6 hours.

Actually, "Together Through Life" sounds better to me than Dylan's previous effort, "Modern Times". I guess it's because of the band and the mastering which is not as loud as on that album.
"Together Through Life" is pretty dark at times, despite the accordion, but I enjoy that it's also got its playful moments. I guess I've always had a soft spot for Texas Blues.
