Can't receive these.
Am trying to think of a better rock drummer, and can't.
He's got to be one of the sexiest Grandpas in the business.

Ah, memories of my "My Future Husband, Eric Clapton" phase....

Thanks.

You know what would be cool? If when the Heartbreakers (or whatever) are in town, Steve set up on a subway platform....no disrespect to the usual guys with the upturned joint compound buckets.

I recently finished the new Claption autobiography and he said something to the effect that Steve is one of the best, if not the best drummer he has ever worked with.

Speaking of the new Clapton Biography. . .did anyone else that read it find it odd that Tom's name is not mentioned one single time. It might sound silly, but he goes through a basically day by day account of his lifelong relationship with George Harrison, describing nearly every time they played together as well as providing a detailed description of almost everyone at George's memorial service, but not Tom. I still thought it might just be a coincidence but when he mentions all of the people that played at the "Concert for George" still leaving out Tom's contribution I thought it was really weird.

Dunno. I don't think I ever worried about that part.

Themis, he didn't say much about Sheryl Crowe either. He seemed to stick with what is and was. I loved the non-tabloid-ness of the book.

I agree bluegill. I just thought with Clapton and Tom both being so close to George he would come up somewhere. I know that Toms daughters, Georges son and Erics daughter are all close friends also.

"All the young dudes
Carry the news..."

I'm reminded all the time these days of the passing of time. We have no kids. Somewhere in my mind, I'm still foot loose and fancy free. Steve too says every so often, "we'll do that when we settle down." I now think he can only be talking about retirement. And then youth and dew and climbing the ladder are done, gone.

We try to get to some of the area high school plays and music productions. This year, during a salute to the '60's theme, the MC barks: THIS isn't OUR music. This isn't OUR PARENT's music! This is OUR GRANDPARENT's MUSIC!!!!

Ouch, ouch, ouch. (Good show, tho')

Back to the issue: I don't like name dropping. I can see doing it when it makes a point, but on the whole, gossiping is a waste of time. Clapton's book was about Clapton. I suppose Dani and everyone has a book in them some day down the road. Children of many stars know more about other children of stars more than they do their own parents sometimes. Their lives are greatly different than their parents. (My life, in contrast, is very much the same as my parent. Line up if you want to hear about that Smile )

I don't want to read about odd lives of offspring that I apparently am being insulted by ("Beatles music is of your grandparents?" OK. Or, maybe I can't face truth.)

I want to be inspired. I wanted to learn of Eric's upbringing, trials at getting started, how certain songs came to be, what he thoughts about at certain points of his life...and he did it all suscintly.

There are some photos of Dhani Harrison and Ruth Clapton here

http://www.filmmagic.com/ItemListing.aspx?cgl=296283&evntI=0

If he keep looking there is one of Tom's daughter Adria kissing Ruth on the cheek.

I didn't intend for it to be "gossipy" by mentioning their friendships. I just think it is sort of cool. I remember reading an article years ago (Rolling Stone)about how many children of famous musicians are friends partly due to the fact, that they find it difficult to trust people.

I hear you on that "trust" thing, Themis.
Do you recall that song...? (My senility is showing again.) Something about: she was a child of the stars. Grew up with Sonny & Cher, Dennis Hopper...(Man, I can't think with Eric Clapton crooning in my ear...) was a lullaby? She was all messed up and kinda falling apart in this bar?
Anyway...it's a good song and kinda addresses this.
