I can't find any official biographies on him so I am wondering if anyone out there knows if he finally married and had kids?
I am just curious and am wondering if he has any little "Stanley's" to harrass the new generation...LOL!!

There is a biosketch on him at:

Stan Lynch

Here's another writeup:

“Tom (Petty) used to say, ‘take care of the music and maybe someday the music will take care of us,’” said Lynch. “I was about 18 when he said that and I thought it was so profound.” Petty’s statement certainly proved to be true. In 2002, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stan Lynch2

Actually, there's quite a bit of information on Stan Lynch on the internet. Just google his name.

That was a great article! I've read quite a bit, but that was one of the best I've read in a long time...

An interesting story: I met a girl who was smart, funny, intelligent, agreeable, and as an added bonus... Looked simply stunning! One day as we were looking through my CD collection, I asked "Have you got a favourite Tom Petty song?" She replied "Who's Tom Petty?"

We haven't spoken since.

David who. I do remember they auditioned a lot of drummers. I don't remember seeing David played with them. Maybe he auditioned?

what a cool article. THanks for sharing that. His story about his flight before Sept11th was really interesting. Sometimes you never know how close you have come.

There was a GREAT interview w/Stan in the May 2008 issue of Modern Drummer. Highly recommend hunting it down. Not online, far as I can tell.

I think it may have been posted already but not the complete interview. You have to buy the magazine.

• Brady Seals is set to release a new album, Play Time, Aug. 18. It includes appearances by pop star Richard Marx and drummer Stan Lynch, of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Interesting. I wonder if Stan played drums on the record, because in that recent Modern Drummer issue he said he sold all of his equipment and barely played at all anymore. Maybe he just played guitar/sang/wrote/produced, but maybe this will kick start his interest in the drums again!

It would appear he DID play on some of the songs, according to the tidbit, posted above.

Getting into shape for the day he makes a special guest appearance on stage with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Smile
